Class FAQs & Policies
What will I be doing in the class?
Besides having the absolute most fun ever? We will dive into some fascinating confectionery facts, master essential decorating techniques, and guide you through decorating your very own set of custom treats to take home and show off!
Do I need to know how to bake?
Nope! No baking experience required at all. I handle the heavy lifting beforehand; your treats will be baked fresh, and the icing will be mixed and colored to perfection before you even tie your apron. If you already have a little decorating experience under your belt, come on in! I’m always happy to share professional tips on icing consistencies and dough management.
What will we learn in class?
You’ll learn the secrets behind preparing royal icing and how to master different icing consistencies so your treats look even better than they taste (and believe me, they taste amazing!). Depending on the class theme, we’ll explore techniques like:
- Outlining and flooding
- Wet-on-wet designs and marbling
- Brush embroidery and painting
- Or, feel free to go off-script and design your own! It’s your edible canvas!
What do I need to bring?
Nothing but a smile! Everything is fully provided, including my signature sugar cookies. If you tend to be a messy decorator, feel free to bring your own apron or wear easy-to-wash clothing. Because I occasionally use a presentation screen for visual references, I highly encourage bringing your glasses if you need them. Oh—and definitely bring your phone. I love it when students take photos!
What will I bring home?
By the end of the session, you’ll walk away with a box of gorgeous, custom-decorated treats ready to dry (which takes about 24 to 48 hours), along with a wealth of new skills, sweet memories, and bragging rights!
Registration, Age, & Guest Policies
Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?
You can absolutely sign up solo, bring a best friend, or book with a whole group! The more the merrier. However, our in-person seating is strictly limited to 12 seats per class to ensure everyone gets personalized attention, so be sure to snag your spots ASAP!
What age is best for these classes?
Our classes are wonderful for almost any age—from youngsters to grandparents! However, because we use professional tools and require a bit of focus, kiddos under 16 must have a parent or guardian also registered and taking the class alongside them. Can I just drop my child off, or sit and watch?
- For children under 16: A parent/guardian must purchase a ticket and actively participate in the class.
- For teenagers 16 and older: You are welcome to drop them off and return for pickup at the end of the 2-hour session.
- Due to strict space restrictions in our boutique workspace, we cannot accommodate spectators or parents standing by to watch. Everyone in the room must have a paid ticket. But I promise you this, it is an incredibly fun bonding experience!
Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?
This is a placeholder tab content. It is important to have tYes! Many parents or practicing decorators love to purchase an extra class kit to practice their new skills at home. You can easily add an extra kit to your order during checkout. Your kit will be boxed up and waiting for you at the end of class.

Skipping the in-person class? You can still order a take-home kit! Just swing by during the scheduled class time to slip in and pick it up—it will be labeled with your name. We will even send you our class presentation slides so you can teach your family in the comfort of your own kitchen!
Cancellation, Refund, & Sickness Policies
I signed up for a class but can’t make it! What is your policy?
We completely understand that life happens! Because these seats are highly limited and seats are prepped days in advance, we enforce the following registration policies:
- Cancellations 7+ Days Out: You may cancel your spot up to 7 days before the scheduled class. You will receive a refund for the class price, minus the non-refundable Square payment processing fees.
- Cancellations Within 7 Days: Cancellations made less than 7 days before class are non-refundable. However, your ticket will automatically roll over as a credit toward our very next upcoming class.
- The Best Alternative: You can always transfer your spot to a friend! If you can’t make it, just send a buddy in your place (just send us a quick email or text to let us know who to expect!).
What is the Sickness Policy?
If you or a household member are feeling under the weather, please stay home and rest! If you must cancel due to illness within the 7-day window, we will gladly package your class materials into a Take-Home DIY Kit instead. You can arrange for a healthy friend or family member to pick up your kit during class hours so you don’t miss out on the baking magic!
Weather / Minimum Attendance Cancellation:
If Maw-Maw’s Treats cancels the class for any reason, the customer will receive a 100% full refund (including fees) or a full transfer to a future date.
Allergy & Dietary Warning
Our class treats are prepared in a kitchen that handles common allergens (wheat, eggs, dairy, nuts). At this time, we cannot offer gluten-free or dairy-free alternatives for class kits.
